What this tool does
Pick a start date and an end date and the calculator instantly counts how many business days (Monday through Friday) and how many weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) fall in that span. Both endpoints are included, so a Monday-to-Friday range counts five business days, and a range that starts and ends on the same weekday counts one. This answers everyday questions like "how many working days until this deadline?" or "how many weekdays are in this billing period?" without counting squares on a calendar. The order of the two dates does not matter — put the later date first and you still get the same totals.
How the count is calculated
The tool walks the range one day at a time from the earlier date to the later date and checks the day of the week for each. Saturdays and Sundays are tallied as weekend days and every other day as a business day, while the total simply adds the two together. Each step is measured at UTC midnight, so a daylight-saving-time change in your local zone can never skip a day or count one twice. Because it only looks at the weekday, the count does not know about public holidays — every Monday through Friday is treated as a working day regardless of local observances.
Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end dates both counted?
Yes. The range is inclusive of both endpoints. For example, Monday January 1 through Sunday January 7, 2024 counts as five business days, two weekend days, and seven total days.
Does it account for public holidays?
No. The calculator only distinguishes weekdays from weekends. Every Monday through Friday is counted as a business day, so you would subtract any local public holidays yourself if you need net working days.
Are my dates sent to a server?
No. The dates you enter never leave your device. The business-day and weekend counts are computed entirely in your browser with JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored.
