How GPA is calculated
Add each course with its letter grade and the number of credit hours. Each grade maps to grade points on the standard US 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on down to F = 0.0). Your GPA is the credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add those up, and divide by the total credits. Because it is weighted by credits, a high grade in a 4-credit course moves your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit course.
Semester and cumulative GPA
To find a single semester's GPA, enter just that semester's courses. To find a cumulative GPA across your studies, enter every course you have taken, or combine semesters by their total credits. Rows with an unknown grade or zero credits are ignored, so you can leave placeholders while you fill things in. Grading scales differ between schools and countries — some use A+ = 4.3 or weighted honors scales — so check your institution's official scale if it differs from the standard 4.0 mapping used here.
